Restaurant Profile, Legal Taxes & Receipts
Configure trade names, contact info, operating currency, tax structures, and receipt headers.
How It Works
The restaurant profile acts as the single source of truth for your business details across customer mobile menus, staff POS stations, and thermal receipts.
When customers view the digital menu, the header displays your restaurant name, contact phone, and operating address.
The UniBill engine uses your configured tax percentage and tax type (inclusive or exclusive) to calculate accurate line-item taxes automatically.
Critical Audit Rule: The moment any customer order is marked Paid, MintLight captures an unalterable, frozen snapshot of your trade name, tax rate, and address. Changing profile settings later will NEVER alter past financial records.
What You Need to Do (Step-by-Step)
- 1. Open Management Console
Log into the Restaurant Dashboard and click "Management" in the left sidebar.
- 2. Enter Official Trade Details
Fill in your Restaurant Name, Public Phone Number, and Complete Physical Address. This address prints on customer receipts.
- 3. Select Operating Currency
Choose your default currency from the dropdown (e.g., INR for India, USD for United States). All dish prices calculate in this currency.
- 4. Define Tax Rates & Calculation Model
Enter your applicable tax percentage (e.g., 5.0 for 5% GST). Choose whether menu prices are Inclusive (tax included) or Exclusive (tax added to bill).
- 5. Enter Registration Identifiers (Optional)
Input your regional business numbers such as GSTIN, FSSAI License, or VAT Number for receipt printing.
- 6. Save Profile Configuration
Click the "Save Settings" button at the bottom. A success confirmation confirms that all active terminals are updated.
Key Screen Controls & Options

Action: Controls the monetary symbol and formatting across all menus, bills, and reports.

- Mobile menus update contact info on the bottom drawer.
- Thermal printers print updated GSTIN/VAT headers.
- All new orders apply the updated tax percentage.
- Tax changes apply ONLY to new orders. Orders marked Paid before the change permanently retain their historical tax rate snapshot.
- Currency should be configured once during onboarding. Switching currency while orders are active may cause pricing inconsistencies.
- Physical address strings should be kept under 120 characters to prevent awkward wrapping on 58mm compact thermal receipt slips.
⚡ Common Floor Scenarios & Edge Cases
What to do: Orders created prior to the update calculate at the old rate. All orders submitted after clicking Save Settings calculate at the new rate.
What to do: MintLight prints the historical snapshot that was active when the bill was paid, preserving tax audit compliance.
📋 Real-World Shift Walkthrough
Owner Raj sets Currency = INR, Tax Rate = 5%, Tax Type = Inclusive, and enters GSTIN "27AAAAA0000A1Z5" and FSSAI "11522000000000". Now a Butter Chicken priced at ₹400 in the menu includes the 5% GST (₹19.05 tax breakdown), and customer receipts print the GSTIN and FSSAI numbers clearly.
