Daily Operations & Shift Checklists
Standard operating procedures for morning opening, mid-service rush, and night closing reconciliations.
How It Works
Morning Opening Checklist (15 Minutes): Prepares the digital infrastructure before venue doors unlock. Verifies Table Ordering is ON, updates 86ed out-of-stock dishes, issues single-use Join Codes to shift workers, unlocks kitchen tablet audio chimes, and tests thermal printer paper.
Mid-Service Rush Workflow: Ensures fast table turnover and zero order bottlenecks during peak hours. Servers monitor flashing Amber cards for rapid order acceptance, and kitchen expeditors watch ticket timers to prevent delayed tables.
Night Closing Reconciliation (15 Minutes): Audits daily operations after the last diner departs. Verifies all tables are settled to Available (Green), reviews void reason logs, balances drawer cash against Cash/Split receipts, and pauses Table Ordering for the night.
What You Need to Do (Step-by-Step)
- 1. Morning 5-Point Opening Check
15 minutes before doors open: (1) Switch Table Ordering ON, (2) Update 86ed items in Menu Manager, (3) Issue Join Codes in Staff & Roles, (4) Tap KDS screen once to enable audio chimes, and (5) Test thermal printer feed.
- 2. Mid-Service Floor & Kitchen Monitoring
During rush service: Waiters accept flashing Amber QR orders within 60 seconds; line cooks keep timers under 20 minutes; managers handle table transfers in OMS if diners change seats.
- 3. Audit Open Tables at Closing
After the last guest departs: Open the Waiter Portal to ensure all tables are settled and marked Paid (Green). Settle or void any lingering unpaid checks.
- 4. Reconcile Drawer Cash & Voids
Filter Order History by Payment Method = Cash and Split Tender. Verify physical cash in register drawer matches the ledger total. Review the Voids log.
- 5. Switch Table Ordering OFF Overnight
In Dashboard -> Tables / QR Code, switch Table Ordering to OFF. This stops unattended order submissions until the next morning.

📋 Real-World Shift Walkthrough
At 10:45 PM, supervisor Sarah opens Waiter Portal: Tables 3, 7, and 12 are green (settled). In Orders, Sarah filters by Cash: ₹8,450. She counts the physical register drawer: exactly ₹8,450. She reviews the Voids log: one item voided due to "spilled drink by customer". Satisfied, Sarah opens Table Manager, toggles Table Ordering OFF, locks the doors, and departs.
